Advantages of Hansol Hospital
Since our first laparoscopic surgery for colon cancer in 2001, the range of application has been expanded. In 2012 we introduced single port laparoscopic surgery which needs only about a 1.5~4cm incision.
What is single-port laparoscopic surgery?
The conventional laparoscopic surgery is to incise 3 to 5 points on the abdomen. The single-port laparoscopic surgery is to operate by incising only one point sized about 1.5 to 4cm. It is regarded as a high-level surgical technique which is accomplished by inserting a camera and operating tool into a single hole through the laparoscopic port. It leaves almost no scars and causes less pain by minimizing the area subject to operation. It leads to faster recovery and shorter length of stay in hospital due to less risk of complications such as intestinal adhesions.
Colon cancer
In many cases, diseases in the colon are not felt by the patient as the colon is insensitive. The survival rate of patients with colon cancer is high when it is detected early, but the survival rate becomes lower when it is left untreated. Therefore, early detection through regular colonoscopy examination is very important.
Advantages of Hansol Hospital
Hernia
This is a disease where a bulge occurs in the abdomen due to the intestine being pushed through the weakened abdominal wall. It is caused by a weakening of, and a hole created in, the abdominal wall, which normally supports abdominal pressure. It is difficult to treat naturally or with medication. Surgery is the only method for treatment.
Advantages of Hansol Hospital
Surgery is performed by inserting an artificial membrane between the peritoneum and the abdominal wall using an intraperitoneal endoscope, treating the weakened abdominal wall and closing the hernia hole. It rarely recurs after surgery as the area closed becomes stronger in proportion to increasing pressure within the abdomen. Laparoscopic hernia surgery has the advantage that, while performing surgery on one side, any hernia on the opposite side can be checked using the endoscope, so if there is a hernia on the opposite side, surgery can be done without additional incision.
Appendicitis
This is a common disease that may occur in all age groups from children to the elderly. However, it may be fatal if the infected appendix is not resected. Pain in the lower right abdomen is the most common symptom, which can be easily neglected as the symptom appears slowly while inflammation develops.
Advantages of Hansol Hospital
Cholelithiasis
A gallstone is a hard stone formed with the condensation of bile juice made from the liver for many reasons. In case of big gallstones or accompanying chronic inflammation, cholelithiasis may recur if it is not treated or it may develop into gallbladder carcinoma. The gallbladder, which once had gallstones, is more likely to form gallstones again and the function of gallbladders which had gallstones is more likely to be reduced. The gallstones within the gallbladder could block the bile duct and cause cholangitis, in which case the entire gallbladder should be removed.
Advantages of Hansol Hospital
Rectal prolapse
This is the state of escape of the entire rectal wall, located underneath the colon and upper side of the anus. Rectal prolapse is a disease of frequent recurrence and there are various operation methods. The laparoscopic surgery for rectal prolapse at Hansol Hospital is performed through a small hole without incision. It has a low recurrence rate and no damage to the anal sphincter compared with operations through the anus. Therefore, this method is recommended for patients with recurring rectal prolapse.
